Matsuya Updates August Late-Night Closure Schedules at 55 Stores Across Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku

On July 31, business hours information for 55 stores spanning 8 prefectures in the Tokai, Kinki, and Hokuriku regions was updated all at once on the Matsuya official website. Most of the changes simply replace the July schedule for temporary late-night closures with one for August, but two stores stood apart: the Hikone Store (0709) and the Kintetsu Yao Ekimae Store (2514) had their base operating hours permanently revised.

Hikone Store and Kintetsu Yao Ekimae Store revise their base operating hours

The Hikone Store in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, changed its operating hours from “6:00 a.m. to midnight” to “6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.” The opening time of 6:00 a.m. stays the same, but closing time moves two hours earlier, from midnight to 10:00 p.m., meaning the store can no longer be used late at night. Last order remains 30 minutes before closing, as before.

The Kintetsu Yao Ekimae Store (2514) in Yao, Osaka Prefecture, was revised from “7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.” to “8:00 a.m. to midnight.” Opening time moves back one hour, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., while closing time moves back 30 minutes, from 11:30 p.m. to midnight — shifting the entire operating window later in the day. Last order here is also 30 minutes before closing. The Kintetsu Yao Ekimae Store shares its location with a Matsunoya, so for morning customers, the one-hour-later opening is the change that actually matters.

Amid a blanket update to late-night closure schedules, these two stores are the ones whose operating hours themselves have shifted — a change with real day-to-day impact for regular customers.

The remaining 53 stores: swapping in the August late-night closure schedule

At the other 53 stores, base operating hours are unchanged; what changed is which days in early-to-mid August fall under the temporary late-night closure. Some Matsuya stores temporarily suspend late-night operation on specific days for reasons such as equipment inspections, and this update appears to simply carry that schedule over from July to August. The stores themselves are not closing long-term — this is only a temporary suspension of late-night hours.

Of the 55 stores affected, 24 share a location with a Matsunoya, and the Mukogawa Store (0560) in Amagasaki shares a location with a My Curry Shokudo — meaning close to half of the affected stores co-locate with another brand. By region, Aichi Prefecture (16 stores) and Osaka Prefecture (15 stores) stand out, with notable concentrations of multiple stores in the same city: 5 in Nagoya, 6 in Osaka City, 3 each in Kishiwada, Toyama, and Gifu, and 4 in Kobe.

The list also includes stores that have seen individual changes recently. The Komaki Store (0473) in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, only just reopened in July after a temporary closure, while the Tomita Store (0911) in Takatsuki and the Shijo Karasuma Store (1925) in Kyoto City extended their hours to “4:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the next day” in mid-July.

Tsuruhashi Store’s August late-night closure notice withdrawn

The Matsuya Tsuruhashi Store (0375) in Osaka City, which had been included among the stores with an August late-night closure in the blanket update, had that notice removed from its business hours listing as of the night of the 31st, reverting to “24-hour operation.” The store had briefly carried a schedule stating “temporary suspension of late-night hours from midnight to 8:00 a.m. on August 1–3 and 6–15 (last order 30 minutes prior),” but this has since been withdrawn, and the listing now shows the store operating all day, including overnight. This “24-hour operation” listing is identical to what was shown before the August closure notice was added, meaning the Tsuruhashi Store will in fact operate as usual overnight during that period.
