A New Store with Matsunoya, Open 24 Hours

Matsuya Uji Niban Store is located at 96-1 Uji Niban, Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, and has the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya attached. It operates 24 hours a day. The name “Uji Niban” comes from the town name included in the store’s address, not from the order in which it opened among Matsuya locations in Uji City.

Second Store in Uji City, Bringing Kyoto’s Matsunoya-Combined Stores to Four

Uji Niban Store is the second Matsuya in Uji City, following the already operating Matsuya Uji Ogura Store. Uji Ogura Store also has Matsunoya attached, and the two stores are only about 1.9 km apart in a straight line. Both Matsuya stores in the city thus have Matsunoya attached and are located close to each other.

Across Kyoto Prefecture as a whole, 17 Matsuya stores are currently in operation, but only four of them have Matsunoya attached: Ritsumeikan Daimae Store, Uji Ogura Store, Gozendori Oike Store, and now Uji Niban Store. This means half of the prefecture’s Matsunoya-combined stores are concentrated in the two Uji City locations.

Matsunoya-Combined Store Openings Continue in Kyoto Prefecture

New Matsunoya-combined stores have continued to open in Kyoto Prefecture. In June 2026, Matsuya/Matsunoya Gozendori Oike Store opened in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City. New store openings are continuing nationwide at a pace of several per week, and the opening of Uji Niban Store can be seen as part of this trend.

Separately, Yashiro Store in Kumamoto Prefecture, whose opening was announced alongside Uji Niban Store, is scheduled to open on October 15.

Editor's Note

Uji is known for its tea, but who knew it would also have two Matsunoya-combined stores. Choosing which one to visit might be the hard part.
