All 9 Matsuya Stores in Okayama Prefecture Now Open 24 Hours

Six Matsuya stores in Nagano, Okayama, and Okinawa prefectures all switched to “24-hour operation” as of September 1. According to the store information on Matsuya’s official website, Shiojiri Store (0976), Suwa Store (0993), Soja Store (2211), Tsuyama Store (2256), Uruma Ishikawa Store (1931), and Okinawa Chibana Store (2520) all show “24-hour operation” as of September 1. In Okayama Prefecture in particular, the change at Soja Store and Tsuyama Store on this day means all 9 existing stores in the prefecture are now open 24 hours.

Two Okayama stores that shortened hours in August return to 24-hour service within 2-3 weeks

Both Soja Store and Tsuyama Store had ended 24-hour operation just once in August. Tsuyama Store switched from 24-hour operation to “8:00 to 22:00, last order 15 minutes before closing” on August 11, and Soja Store shortened its hours to the same “8:00 to 22:00, last order 15 minutes before closing” on August 16. This change on September 1 brings both stores back to 24-hour operation only 2-3 weeks after those shortenings — about three weeks for Tsuyama Store and about two weeks for Soja Store.

With these two stores returning to 24-hour operation, all 9 existing stores in Okayama Prefecture are now open around the clock. According to the store information on Matsuya’s official website, no store in Okayama Prefecture falls short of 24-hour operation as of September 1. As of the same date, 15 prefectures have every store operating 24 hours, and Okayama’s 9 stores rank second in scale only to Ehime Prefecture’s 11.

Nagano and Okinawa also move to 24 hours, leaving just 3 stores outside 24-hour operation

In Nagano Prefecture, Shiojiri Store had been changing its hours in stages. It had shortened from “8:00 to 4:00 the following day” to “5:00 to 2:00 the following day, last order 15 minutes before closing” on May 12, and this time it expanded further to 24-hour operation. Suwa Store, which had an irregular schedule that varied by day of the week (Mon-Thu 4:00 to 3:00 the following day, Fri 4:00 to 23:00, Sat-Sun 8:00 to 23:00), has now been unified into 24-hour operation every day. Past announcements note that Suwa Store had a temporary closure between May and June for its conversion into a combined store with Matsunoya. With this change, 11 of the 13 existing stores in Nagano Prefecture are now 24-hour, leaving Tomi Store (1820, 8:30 to 24:00) and Nagano Shinonoi Store (2132, irregular hours that vary by day) as the two remaining non-24-hour stores.

In Okinawa Prefecture, Uruma Ishikawa Store and Okinawa Chibana Store were the two stores affected. Uruma Ishikawa Store moved from a schedule where it was 24-hour only on Saturdays and otherwise time-limited (Mon-Thu 4:00 to 2:00 the following day, Fri from 4:00, Sun-Holidays until 2:00 the following day) to full 24-hour operation every day, while Okinawa Chibana Store switched from “5:00 to 4:00 the following day” to 24-hour operation. Stores in Okinawa Prefecture including these two had been temporarily closed in early August due to typhoon impact. With this change, 10 of the 11 existing stores in Okinawa Prefecture are now 24-hour, leaving Naha Shintoshin Store (2194, 7:30 to 22:00) as the only non-24-hour store.

According to the store information on Matsuya’s official website, more than 80% of existing stores nationwide are now open 24 hours. With stores catering to late-night visits forming the majority, this round of changes at six stores happened to coincide on the same day across three separate prefectures — Nagano, Okayama, and Okinawa.
