Matsuya put a price revision on its beef bowl lineup into effect at 3 PM on October 13. On the menu page of its official website, new prices are now shown for all six items in the beef bowl lineup, including the Beef Bowl (Regular Serving), which goes from 460 yen to 480 yen. The revision had been announced in the “Price Revision Notice” published on October 9, and it took effect as announced.

The notice stated that all beef bowl items would rise by a flat 20 yen across all sizes, including the various set options. The Beef Bowl Bento 2-piece and 3-piece sets are also covered, and now cost 900 yen and 1,320 yen respectively.

The six items affected by the increase

All six items in the beef bowl lineup rose by a flat 20 yen at Regular Serving.

This follows earlier Beef Bowl (Regular Serving) revisions: 400 yen to 430 yen on July 16, 2024, and 430 yen to 460 yen on April 22, 2025. Like this one, both took effect at 3 PM on a Tuesday. Between the end of 2025 and the start of 2026, there was also a limited-time revision that set the Beef Bowl (Regular Serving) at 490 yen at some stores in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, but that was a temporary measure that returned to the original price on January 3 and differs in nature from this permanent, nationwide revision.

Where the price sits within the beef bowl lineup

After the increase, the Beef Bowl (Regular Serving) at 480 yen is the cheapest in the lineup, 100 yen below the next-cheapest items, the Beef Bowl topped with Grated Radish & Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce and the Bowl of Mixed Simmered Beef and Kimchi (580 yen each).

The Beef Bowl topped with Cheese and the Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg, now at 680 yen, match the Beef Curry & Rice and Neo Kashmir Curry and Rice in the curry category (both 680 yen), and are 10 yen cheaper than the Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl and the Beef Bibimbap Bowl in the bowl category (690 yen each). The Beef Bowl topped with Tomato and Cheese, now the most expensive in the lineup at 710 yen, sits 20 yen above those two bowls.

Bento set discounts keep the same yen amount

The bulk-buy Beef Bowl Bento sets were also raised, but the actual yen discount against the single item has been left unchanged.

The 2-piece set is 900 yen, or 450 yen per box, which is 30 yen cheaper than the single Regular Serving at 480 yen. The 3-piece set is 1,320 yen, or 440 yen per box, which is 40 yen cheaper than the single item.

Compared with the pre-revision prices of 860 yen for the 2-piece set (430 yen per box, 30 yen below the single item) and 1,260 yen for the 3-piece set (420 yen per box, 40 yen below the single item), the per-box discounts of 30 yen and 40 yen are preserved exactly. The 20-yen increase on the single item has been passed straight through, multiplied by the number of boxes in the set (40 yen for the 2-piece set, 60 yen for the 3-piece set), so the design of the bulk-buy discount itself has not changed.

The Beef Bowl Bento 2-piece and 3-piece sets are the two items that remained when 11 bulk-buy bento sets were delisted on July 14. They are a plain Beef Bowl Bento set, separate from the Beef Bowl Bento topped with Grated Radish & Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce, the Beef Bowl Bento topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg and others that were delisted at that time, and they continue to be sold.

Other developments the same day

On October 13, at the same 3 PM as the beef bowl price revision, a new set meal using the beef bowl sauce, the Hearty Serving Beef Plate Meal (790 yen), and other items went on sale as regular menu items. The day saw a price revision and the introduction of a new lineup land at the same time.

In the morning of the same day, price adjustments were also confirmed on Hamburg Steak menu items, including the Beef Curry w/ Hamburg Steak, which rose from 890 yen to 950 yen. This is a separate matter not included in the list of items covered by this “Price Revision Notice,” and its framework differs from the flat 20-yen revision of the beef bowl items.
