Matsuya Switches Futamatagawa and Tsurugamine Stores in Asahi Ward, Yokohama to 24-Hour Operation

StoreUpdated

Matsuya’s Futamatagawa Store (0547) and Tsurugamine Store (0903) have both switched their operating hours to “24-hour operation.” Both stores are located in Asahi Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and the change ends the late-night closure that had previously been in place at each.

Ending the 3 to 5 a.m. Closure for All-Day Operation

The two stores’ hours had previously been listed as “5 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day, Last Order 15 minutes before closing.” They opened at 5 a.m. and closed at 3 a.m. the next day (with Last Order 15 minutes before closing), staying shut for roughly two hours between 3 and 5 a.m. That listing has now changed to “24-hour operation,” meaning both stores can be used at any hour.

At both stores, the change is identical: a switch from the old late-night closure listing to all-day operation.

Two Adjacent Stations on the Sotetsu Main Line — Every Matsuya in Asahi Ward Now 24 Hours

Futamatagawa Store is located at 1-45-18 Futamatagawa, Asahi Ward, Yokohama, and Tsurugamine Store at 1-12-3 Tsurugamine in the same ward — only about 1.77 kilometers apart as the crow flies. The two stores, whose nearest stations are Futamatagawa Station and Tsurugamine Station, which sit next to each other on the Sotetsu Main Line, switched to 24-hour operation at the same time.

These are the only two Matsuya locations in Asahi Ward, Yokohama, so with this change, every Matsuya in the ward now operates 24 hours a day.

78% of Matsuya Locations in Kanagawa Prefecture Now Operate 24 Hours

Of the 112 Matsuya locations currently operating in Kanagawa Prefecture, 87 (about 78%) are now on 24-hour operation following this latest switch. Within Yokohama City alone, 65 of 80 stores (about 81%) operate 24 hours, making all-day operation the majority both across the prefecture and within the city. Nationwide, “24-hour operation” is also the most common format, with the older “5 a.m. to 3 a.m.” late-night-closure type already in the minority.

Within Kanagawa Prefecture, Oppama Store and Ofuna Ekimae Store also switched to 24-hour operation back in June, continuing a string of stores in the prefecture moving to all-day operation. While this time two nearby stores — Futamatagawa and Tsurugamine — switched together, a certain number of Matsuya locations overall also revert from 24-hour operation back to the late-night-closure type, and this change appears to be part of an ongoing, prefecture-wide and nationwide review of operating hours.

Editor's Note

Two adjacent stations on the Sotetsu Line, both now serving Matsuya through the night. Late-night dining in Asahi Ward just got a little more convenient.
