Two of the Store-limited eel items at Matsuya, the side dishes “Una Plate” (Grilled Eel Plate) and “Una Gyu Plate” (Eel and Beef Plate), disappeared from the menu on Matsuya’s official website on September 29, 2026, and were discontinued. Both debuted on August 25 as part of a four-item eel lineup alongside the Store-limited “Grilled Eel Bowl” and “Eel Combo Beef Bowl.” The two sides have now ended first, leaving the two bowls.
Pricing That Rivaled the Flagship Eel Bowl
The Una Plate cost 760 yen and the Una Gyu Plate 960 yen. Neither came in different sizes or with app-exclusive pricing; each was sold at a single price.
These two prices were the highest among the 32 side dishes currently on sale. The next most expensive is the “Tomato and Cheese Beef Plate” at 600 yen, which is 160 yen below the Una Plate and 360 yen below the Una Gyu Plate. Even the third-place items, the “Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg Beef Plate” and the “Cheese Beef Plate” (570 yen each), trailed well behind, putting the two eel sides in a price range far removed from the usual side dish.
The 960 yen Una Gyu Plate stands out in particular, as it was just 20 yen less than the 980 yen “Grilled Eel Bowl” that launched at the same time. Though classed as a side dish, it was priced almost on par with the signature eel bowl.
From the June Debut to This Discontinuation
This was the second run for the Una Plate and Una Gyu Plate on the menu.
Their first listing can be confirmed on June 23, 2026, when six eel items were on the menu: the “Grilled Eel Bowl,” “Eel Combo Beef Bowl,” “Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Bowl,” and “Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Plate,” together with these two sides. All six came off the menu on August 11, and after a gap of about two weeks they were listed again on August 25.
The return lineup was four items: the “Grilled Eel Bowl,” “Eel Combo Beef Bowl,” “Una Plate,” and “Una Gyu Plate.” The egg-topped “Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Bowl” and “Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Plate” that had been sold alongside them the first time were not included in the relisting. The prices of the Una Plate and Una Gyu Plate stayed consistently at 760 yen and 960 yen, from the first listing in June through this discontinuation.
In terms of duration, the first run (June 23 to August 11) lasted 49 days, while the second (August 25 to September 29) lasted 35 days, making this one shorter.
| Run | Listing period | Days | Lineup |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | June 23 – Aug. 11, 2026 | 49 days | 6 eel items (including the Fluffy Egg items) |
| Second | Aug. 25 – Sept. 29, 2026 | 35 days* | 4 eel items |
*Listing period for the two sides (Una Plate and Una Gyu Plate).
Ended as Flagged by the September 22 “To Be Discontinued” Notice
Ahead of this discontinuation, a note reading “※To be discontinued successively” had been added to the Una Plate and Una Gyu Plate entries on September 22. Their disappearance from the menu this time is the discontinuation that notice announced.
The same notice was attached on September 22 to the two Store-limited bowls, the “Grilled Eel Bowl” and “Eel Combo Beef Bowl.” Of the four-item Store-limited eel lineup that began on August 25, the two sides were the first to end, on September 29.
Editor's Note
At 960 yen, a side dish costs as much as a light meal on its own. The Grilled Eel Bowl and other bowl menu items are still available, so head there when you're craving eel.
