Matsuya Distributes Coupons for Up to 70 Yen Off at Ticket Vending Machines as Apology for System Glitch
On October 29, Matsuya announced on its official X account (@matsuya_foods) that it would distribute discount coupons usable at ticket vending machines as an apology for a system glitch. The post stated, “Due to an ongoing system glitch, some services, including the Matsuya App, remain unavailable,” and explained that as a token of apology, it had prepared discount coupons covering Beef Bowls, bowls, curry and rice, and set meals.
The Coupons Come in Three Tiers, Up to 70 Yen Off Classic Set Meals
The attached image shows the discount targets and amounts divided into three tiers.
- Six classic Beef Bowl varieties: 30 yen off
- Other bowls and curry and rice: 50 yen off
- Six classic set meal varieties: 70 yen off
To use the coupon, customers hold the QR code shown in the image up to the ticket vending machine’s QR code reader. The image instructs, “First, hold this QR code up to the ticket vending machine’s QR code reader.” The offer is available “at all Matsuya locations except some stores,” with a note that “this campaign may end without prior notice.”
Follow-up to the Previous Day’s Emergency Maintenance Notice
This apology is the latest in a series of posts concerning the system outage. The previous day, October 28, at 10:41 PM, the official X account had announced, “Due to emergency maintenance, the official website, Matsuya App, and Matsuben Net are suspended.” The latest post also states, “We are currently working on restoration so that you can use our services with peace of mind as soon as possible,” indicating that the glitch is still ongoing.
The outage occurred at a time when several app- and mobile-order-related campaigns were overlapping. At 6:30 PM on October 28, a campaign began under the name “MATSUYA DELI Renewal Commemoration,” granting +50 Matsuya Points for purchasing eligible items, and point bonuses such as triple points for Matsuya Mobile Order and double points for Matsuben Net were also running during the same period.
A Discount Coupon Not Offered After the Previous App Glitch
This is not the first time Matsuya’s official X account has posted an apology over an app glitch. In June 2026 as well, following an app glitch that occurred from June 15 to 16, the company posted an apology on June 16 and announced the restoration on June 17. However, on that occasion, only the apology and restoration notice were given, with no alternative measure such as a discount coupon announced. The distribution of a discount coupon usable at ticket vending machines alongside the apology is a distinguishing feature of this response.

Editor's Note
A system glitch is a hassle, but it's a bit unusual to see a ticket vending machine discount coupon included as an apology.
