Matsuya Cuts the Only-Size Price of Five Set Meals, Including the Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal, by 140 Yen

On October 28, 2026, it emerged that the Only-size prices of five items in Matsuya’s Set Meal lineup — the Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal, the Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal, the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce, the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib, and the Set Meal of Grilled Beef — had each been cut by 140 yen. The new Only-size prices are 550 yen for the Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal, the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib, and the Set Meal of Grilled Beef, 450 yen for the Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal, and 490 yen for the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce. The revision applies only to the Only size, which comes with neither rice nor salad; other sizes, such as the full Set Meal (with rice and salad) and the Large Serving, remain unchanged.

The Only-size versions of these five items are the sizes Matsuya markets as “MATSUYA DELI.” This latest price cut is part of the across-the-board price reduction on 13 prepared food items announced in an official notice on October 21, which took effect at 3 PM on October 27.

For all five items, the full Set Meal size (790 yen for the Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal, 830 yen for the Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce, and 890 yen for each of the Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal, the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib, and the Set Meal of Grilled Beef) remains unchanged, so the gap between the full Set Meal and the Only size has widened from the previous 200 yen to 340 yen.

The Five Items Covered by the “MATSUYA DELI” Across-the-Board Price Cut

These five items were announced in advance in the October 21 notice and are included among the 13 prepared food items whose across-the-board price cut took effect at 3 PM on October 27. In an advance notice on October 23, the official X account (@matsuya_foods) stated that the cuts would be minus 80 yen for Beef Plate items, minus 70 yen for Founding Beef Curry and Rice, and minus 140 yen for yakiniku and hamburg steak items — and all five items here fall into the yakiniku and hamburg steak category. A post announcing the start of the price cuts was also made when it took effect at 3 PM on October 27.

As of October 28, the Matsuya official website’s menu page has updated the Only-size prices for these five items to the new figures. The previous day, on the 27th, the Only sizes of three other Set Meals had already been cut by the same 140 yen. These five yakiniku and hamburg steak items followed the next day, on the 28th, with their Only sizes dropping by 140 yen together, widening the gap to 340 yen across the board.

Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal

Matsuya’s signature Umatoma, built around a special sauce that blends the savoriness of garlic with the tartness of tomato. Its Only size now sits at 550 yen, joining the Only sizes of the Black Mapo Tofu Set Meal, the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib, and the Set Meal of Grilled Beef in a crowded 550-yen price band with four items. The Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal has repeatedly made headlines through ways of eating that increase the number of patties, such as the Triple (three patties, 300g) that appeared as part of the June 29 “Meat Day” campaign.

Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal

The Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal debuted on June 30, and its Only size had remained unchanged at 590 yen ever since its launch. With this cut to 450 yen, it now holds the lowest Only-size price in the Set Meal category. Its full Set Meal size of 790 yen is also the lowest in the category, making the item accessible across the board.

Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce

The Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce made its comeback on June 30 after roughly seven months away. Its Only size had also held steady at 630 yen since its return, but it has now dropped to 490 yen, making it the second-lowest Only-size price in the Set Meal category, behind the Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal’s 450 yen.

Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib

The Only size of the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib dropped from 690 yen to 550 yen. At 690 yen, its Only size had previously tied with the Set Meal of Grilled Beef for the highest Only-size price in the Set Meal category, but this cut brings it in line with the Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal, the Set Meal of Grilled Beef, and the Black Mapo Tofu Set Meal at the same 550 yen. The full Set Meal size of 890 yen remains unchanged, widening the gap between the full Set Meal and the Only size to 340 yen.

Set Meal of Grilled Beef

The Set Meal of Grilled Beef also saw its Only size drop from 690 yen to 550 yen, tracking the exact same price movement as the Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib. Both items share the same full Set Meal price of 890 yen, making them one of the closer-priced pairings among the yakiniku lineup. With this round of cuts, the Only-size prices of all five yakiniku and hamburg steak items now sit at 550 yen or below.
